The Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport of the University of the Aegean organized the 1st Chios International Shipping Summit on Friday, September 29th, 2023, in Chios under the auspices of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.
The Summit is addressed to academia society, shipowners, top executives of the shipping sector and representatives of international institutions.
The 1st Chios International Shipping Summit focused on:
- Creating a unique networking platform for the maritime community.
- Discussing and sharing best practices and hands-on knowledge.
- Revealing future trends and challenges in an ever-changing environment of global shipping.
- Drawing an efficient roadmap connecting research to implementation.

Honorary Academic Ceremony
Thursday, September 28th
Mr. Dimitrios Fafalios, President of Intercargo and Board Member of Hellenic Shipowners’ Association, was nominated Honorary Doctor of the Department Shipping, Trade and Transport within the framework of an Academic Ceremony on Thursday, September 28th, 2023.
Visit of important cultural sites and natural beauties of southern Chios is offered to participants on Saturday, September 30th (from 09:30 to 17:00).
