The aim of the lectures is to have students familiarized with the legal concept of the ship, as well as the registration procedure. It is expected that by the end of the course students have an understanding of concepts and procedures such as ship nationality, sailors’ enlisting and registries.
The course intends to cognitively familiarize students with maritime entrepreneurship and its relations with the seafarers.
A parallel aim of the course is that students, by the end of all lectures are comfortable with the concepts of International Law of the Sea, to have some understanding of the methodology according to which international jurisdictional bodies operate and the influence of their decisions on interstate relations. An overview of the delimitation status quo in the Aegean and the implications for neighboring countries is also provided.
