SPECIALIZATIONS

The MSc in Shipping, Trade & Transport offers three (3) specialisations:

Shipping Business Finance, Management & Administration

The specialisation aims at the development and refinement of strategic management skills as well as operational and financial management of Shipping Companies by analysing modern market models and the use of financial analysis tools, through theoretical lectures, workshops with the participation of industry executives and group work in case studies and in the strategic analysis of the internationalized world shipping environment.

Shipping Business Finance, Management & Administration

Maritime Law and Finance

The purpose of the specialization is to address the financing issues faced by shipping & transport companies, as well as development of understanding of international money markets and law. Particular emphasis is placed on issues related to maritime law, chartering and money market law, as well as financial analysis and risk assessment issues.

Courses and Credits Units

The 1st Semester corresponds to the A’ Study Cycle of the program, which corresponds to 30 ECTS. Five (5) compulsory courses are taught, of which four (4) are common to all three specializations.
In the 2nd semester (30 ECTS) it is structured in two cycle courses (B and C) with four (4) courses per cycle of which three (3) are compulsory. Also, a special seminar course is provided in the 2nd semester.

The MSc Thesis begins in the 2nd semester and is completed during the summer period. It corresponds to 15 ECTS.
The total number of Credit Units (ECTS) required to obtain the MSc in Shipping, Trade and Transport is 75 (seventy-five).

Examination

Performance in each course is assessed.

The exact examination procedure for each course is specified by the course tutor during the first teaching week. The assessment may include both an intermediate and a final exam, which is conducted within the last teaching week of the course.
